Well said! This is exactly how I feel about it.

What I want to know is, do people who hate the word 'smol' also hate when characters are written/drawn as being smol? Like, is that why they hate the word? Because it describes a popular trope they don't like?

It's a little surprising to me that a person would just categorically hate smol characterizations, though.

If a character's entire, well, character can be reduced to the word smol, it sounds like a very one dimensional character.
