What are some fanworks that got you interested in a pairing. Canon, crack, crossover, or anything inbetween.

I read Confidence (http://archiveofourown.org/works/1178923) before I'd even read the Silmarillion and it made me want to ship Sauron/Celebrimbor.

Fandom and a few fanfics made me ship Maedhros/Fingon. I came out of the Silmarillion liking their friendship, but I didn't ship until I got into the fandom.

I'm glad you like it. I got interested in DS9 ~2 years ago and started searching through old rec posts.

Let me know if there is anything in particular you are interested in. It's mostly Bashir/Garak, but I have a few other pairings too.

Exaction [http://archiveofourown.org/series/294968] made me crave Solas/Dorian, even though a) WTF, and b) I don't like Solas.

Some Friendlier Sky [http://archiveofourown.org/works/609865/chapters/1098787] made me love
Courfeyrac/Cosette more than literally any other Les Mis pairing. And it's pretty much the only long work for the pairing I've ever seen, so - woe is me!

Oh, and Gem [http://archiveofourown.org/works/1194282/chapters/2437125] made me really interested in Bilbo Baggins/Balin/Dwalin, even though the fic itself is abandoned at six chapters and never really gets to the meat of the relationship.

I can't give links because they're so old, but the way I got into some of my fandoms was a bit random encounter with a fanwork.

I got into Final Fantasy because I saw an Advent Children icon of Cloud Strife on LJ which made me curious enough to go investigating FF7.

I got into Harry Potter because someone brought up Harry/Draco in a multi-fandom mailing list round robin I was trying to participate in.

I got into LotR (after disdaining Aragorn/Legolas for ages) when, while looking at someone's collection of HP-related music vids, I found they had a LotR one that was Aragorn/Boromir. The idea of the pairing appealed to me a lot better than elfslash at that point, even if I ended up in elfslash later.
