I can sort of relate. Star Wars has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I'm thrilled about the new movies, but seeing the SJW crowd going to town on how problematic everything is (and going back in time to complain about the original trilogy too) just makes me feel sad. Intellectually, I know it's just fandom and doesn't matter, but somehow it does.

Listening to people talk about how irresponsible it was for Lucas not to show how traumatized Leia was by her time as Jabba's slave girl feels like someone's ripping apart my childhood teddy bear.
