Re: Things you wish you could say to people
When I encouraged you to approach her gently and gave you information about her which could allow you to empathize with her position, I was not telling you this because I am a naive Pollyanna who just wants you to be nice to her. I was giving you the strategy that would be most affective in getting her on your side. You didn't listen to me, and now you've fucked up your chances of ever getting her approval on this project, and you will never get what you want, because you insisted on doing things your way and coming at her aggressively.
You dismissed my advice out of hand because you see me as a slightly dim, harmless, naive sweetheart, when I am not any of those things. I seem that way because I use that as a survival strategy in life. I have no enemies, I offer empathy and a listening ear to everyone because it's easy for me to see all sides, and I am much better at reading people than you give me credit for. Being sweet and understanding was the best way of getting her to do what you want, and now that door is closed.
And I can't tell you any of this because then you'll know that when I'm gentle and understanding with you, I'm not necessarily being genuine, and that I know you to be two people I have to be careful not to make enemies with.
