Um. You think a character's "most defining trait" is a physical characteristic of theirs that they had no control over, and yet you accuse others of being shallow?

lolokay.

DA

I don't even watch this show but I agree with OP that his most defining physical characteristic is baldness. With hair he looks like your average protagonist. Give him orange hair and he'd be Ichigo. I don't see how they're wrong about it being relatively the most defining trait.

Considering the entire secret is about physical traits.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-11 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt but I thought his most defining trait was the fact that he can one-hit KO anything.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-11 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
That's not something you can tell immediately without watching the show. It's a skill, not a physical trait.

Someone being a great singer is not a physical trait of theirs, its a skill of theirs.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-11 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you never said "physical trait", did you?

The character is still the same character with hair. Him having hair is shown in the series. Fans want to fap over that instead of a bald guy, they can go for it.

I agree that his baldness is iconic. That doesn't mean fans suddenly must appreciate him sexually for that if they are going to at all.

I'm not OP, but as the anon you're replying to, I absolutely did say physical trait, and you can read my comment over again if you missed it.

The OP is clearly talking about physical traits here, then continuing to refer to them as traits later on. It's like basic reading comprehension.

I said nothing about finding the trait sexually appealing or not. I am only talking about that it is distinctive, which it is. You're arguing the wrong argument to the wrong person. I don't know why you are doing that.

They only mention the word "trait" once, and it's without physical in front of it. Prior to that, they say "being bald is a HUGE part of Saitama's character" and later describe it as an "integral part of a character".

I'm sorry but that's weird? Being bald is not a huge part of a person's character, nor is it an integral part of their being.

Lmfao have you even watched this show? You sound like an idiot right now.

The guy's superhero name is "Caped Baldy". He lost all his hair from his intense training. He's defensive as fuck about his baldness.

It's literally is one of the most defining traits of this character.

Still don't see how that makes it his most defining character trait. The character traits that make him defensive--where another character might shrug the baldness off--are a more defining character trait. Even before he was bald, he had those character traits.

So why would the baldness itself be more defining?

It's his most defining feature in universe.

I was under the impression that losing his hair was a process he went through in canon (or maybe in his backstory) that helped to define him, based on the secret.

It is. He basically trained so hard his hair fell out. It's pretty much a very defining trait. I can kind of understand OP being annoyed at people.

Also, I find him cute with or without hair, so. >.>

I mean OP definitely leaned towards "don't do fandom in a way I don't like!" with the extremity of their reaction but I can understand their annoyance since it is a defining trait.

Also, I'm not particularly sexually attracted to bald dudes myself, but my dad is bald, so I can understand getting defensive if people were to look down on baldness (though I usually hear people talk about it in the context of sexual attraction, ymmv). My dad's story isn't so dramatic - he has male pattern baldness and went totally bald on top in his 20s; now he just shaves the rest so he is a total baldie - but he IS one of the most awesome people I know, so :)

I mean, his superhero name is "Caped Baldy". I'd argue that it's pretty fundamental to his visual design in his superpowered mode, yes.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-11 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
i mean do you even watch this show
