How, exactly, do you think those animals would get into a recycling center?

If they're in place that is exposed to the elements before they're dealt with, birds can and will fly in and carry off materials they think they are food/nesting material. Seagulls are omnivores and LOVE places like that. Or things blow away and wind up back in the stream of pollution. Even if you're recycling your plastics, it's quick and considerate to snip those rigid 6-pack rings.
