I dunno, I think you're taking it way too seriously. Little kids have "romance" play fantasies all the time, and it's okay because they literally don't have any concept of sexuality or what romance is. I absolutely agree that there are boundaries and I think they need to be upheld, and modeling what is appropriate behavior for a toddler and an adult to have... but seriously, if the kid is having fun, I don't think it's a big deal.

If it is the kid doing it, I agree. But the parent pushing the kid forward and talking about shipping? The parent absolutely knows what sexuality is. And that's a bit creepy that they'd be thinking of their kid in that context just because they're dressed in a costume.

I follow this mom's account, and by no means does it seem like she is pushing the shipping on the child. Yes the mom enthusiastically shares her love of fandom and making costumes, but I wouldn't say she is playing out shipping fantasies with her daughter.
