Old Obscure Shows You Miss

The Inside. FBI procedural. Lasted 9 episodes. Scary as fuck, not available ANYWHERE except torrent sites.

Edit: Technically 13 episodes, but only 9 aired in the US. The rest aired in the UK.

Ultraviolet. A late 90s British series about vampire hunters, with Jack Davenport and Idris Elba.

Speaking of Jack Davenport, I also miss Coupling.

I liked this show. I've been meaning to rewatch it. I totally shipped JD and IE's characters.

Bugs.

Lots of wacky almost action/spy like shenanigans with some sci-fi elements thrown in for fun. I loved watching it as a kid and thankfully it's not too hard to find since it is sold on DvD.

I have vague memories of a show called "Moonlight" (I think that was it's name), about a vampire and a human solving crimes together, and it had a romance element. I really wanted to watch it, but I think it got cancelled.

I really liked the U.S. The Eleventh Hour. Rufas Sewell as the science guy. The FBI agent was a kickass lady. (I admit I shipped them but I liked that they were totally platonic in the show.) It was a little over-the-top with regards to the science but if you bought into that, it was really good. If I recall correctly, it wrapped up in a satisfying way too.

Ooops. Missed the obscure part. Uh, Police Squad. Which was only 6 episodes but absolutely hilarious. The series the Naked Gun movies were based on. Cancelled because the network was stupid and didn't want a show that audiences actually had to watch to understand.

Wonderfalls.

Given how popular Fuller's Hannibal adaptation was, and how many people online seem to remember and love Pushing Daisies, I wish more people would watch and talk about Wonderfalls.

Also, Dead Like Me, but I've only seen the first few episodes of that.

The CW had a 2-season (I think only 7 episodes per season) reality show about ballet called Breaking Pointe and punny title aside, it was really good. It followed a ballet company over the course of a season, and as someone who has watched a lot of ballet documentaries, I liked how the TV format let them explore more areas. Of course, there was a lot of ~relationship drama~ but it really got into the basics of how a company picks what show they'll do, how they cast it (and there was a really matter-of-fact interview with the director about how non-diverse ballet is and how it impacts their choices) and a whole episode on contract negotiations. I really miss it.

Mummies Alive! is the first one that pops into my mind. I'd give my right leg for another season.

Journeyman and My Own Worst Enemy. 2007-08 broke my heart on shortlived shows.

Class of the Titans. It poked fun at Greek mythology and the portrayals of the gods were rather unique, especially Hades. Doesn't take itself too seriously, like one time the villain's just reading at home and heroes burst in and ruin things. So, yeah, fun little show.

Between Century City and Jake 2.0, I really picked the wrong sci-fi shows to follow for a while. Roswell Conspiracies was great too.

Cupid, the original one with Jeremy Piven. Really wish they'd bring it out on dvd.

Reasonable Doubt with Mark Harmon and Marlee Matlin.

Commenting again to add Off the Map, which was produced by Shonda Rhimes, the way that How to Get Away With Murder is. I was really loving that show and then it was canceled after 10 episodes. :( (I have the series on DVD, but I've never finished it, knowing it wasn't picked up again.)

Also, Miss Match, that was on NBC in 2003 with Alicia Silverstone, Ryan O'Neal, James Roday before Psych, and also Nathan Fillion. I really enjoyed that show, but it too was canceled in its first season. Not surprising considering it was shunted off to the Friday night death slot.

Two kids' shows from the early 70's that I was obsessed about as a kid that nobody else but me even remembers. The Curiosity Shop and Tomfoolery. Both of these need to be on DVD NOW.
