Yeah that's creepy. It's one thing for me to buy my niece a costume because she wants it, or get her a sig from an actor that plays her fav char, but if she doesn't want to wear the costume or say hi to someone then we don't. She once insisted on following a woman in an Aquawoman costume at a con around for a moment, but was too shy to want a pic so I didn't push. When she got on the phone with me and told me she needed a Jayden costume for her birthday I found the costume. She's four now, but it's her fandom experience and my likes may be different than hers, but when we're at a con together she and the things she wants to get into come first.

See, that sounds like good parenting. You're not going "You want to be Robin? Tough. I ship catwoman and batman so you're dressing as catwoman and I'm going to take pictures of people dressed as batman holding you because that's my OTP"

That would be creepy. Fandom is about fun. If my niece/nephew isn't having fun then what's the point of taking them to a con?
