Isn't there that one girl who does end up being nice to Carrie? Sue Snell? If she could have been friends with Carrie earlier. ♥

Sue ends up being nice to Carrie, and there's also the one girl at the dance who's friends with Tommy who is sweet to her, kind if "we have to have each other's backs against the guys." It's really sweet. One of the great things about the dance before everything becomes terrible, in both the book and the original movie, is that it emphasizes what a fucking tragedy the whole thing was. How Carrie was just a girl who had the lowest of expectations for that night--she just wanted to put on a pretty dress and show up and not be too embarrassed. And then get home to her mom in time. I especially love how that dance with Carrie and Tommy is shot in the 1976 movie, how they literally make you as dizzy and overwhelmed as she must be feeling--incredible, bravura filmmaking from De Palma.
