Hey Brits!

What's your cellular provider?

I'm shopping around for a prepaid plan that allows unlimited SMS. I currently pay $15/month plus data and talk top ups, and I'd like to wind up paying around the same amount (so around 7.50 pound sterling).

The internet has shown me some prices but won't say much about how easy it is to deal with customer service, so any info would be appreciated.

I currently pay £8.50 for 100 minutes, unlimited text and 100 mb data from O2, but I get it that cheap as a student discount. I think without it it's £10 a month?

Anyway, I've been with them for almost 13 years, since I got my first cell phone, and I can't say I've ever had a problem with customer service. They've always been very helpful.

SA - The one problem I do have with O2 is that the signal in my house isn't great, but due to the remoteness of where I live, it's the best I can get =p

You might wanna check on a coverage map (like http://www.ofcom.org.uk/mobile-coverage) before you buy, to make sure you don't get a phone that doesn't work in your house. Although if you're coming to one of the big cities it probably wont be a problem. =]

Well, I'll be in a major city for the time I'll be there so I don't predict coverage will be much of a problem.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Well, I'm jealous of Canadian cell plan prices.

Mine is the absolute bare bones cheapest of the cheap. I basically only use the thing for texting and WiFi, and buying actual minutes is more expensive because I essentially use the damn thing as a pager lol.

That said, I do like people being able to reach me but not talk to me trololo.

Lol, don't be. Canada is actually one of the more expensive places to get a cell phone plan.

I live in a major city, and the absolute cheapest cell plan I could get that wasn't pay-as-you-go, was $30 per month all told, and that wasn't including any data, and also didn't get me anything off the price of my phone.

I'm currently paying $40 per month all told, for unlimited text, talk, and data, but holy shit is my internet slow. Like, 1995 slow. And I'm paying just over HALF of what all the other places are charging for the same basic package (except they offer faster internet and slightly better coverage/reception).
