It's always okay to discuss it, provided you're truly interested in discussion rather than going into Knight Templar mode. There's a lot to be said for nuance, and knowing the difference between a character who is morally ambiguous, and a character who does morally reprehensible things but has complex and plausible (if terrifying) reasons/motives for it.

Edit: Realized "justifications" was not the word I meant.
