imo they're all part of multi million corporate companies that have well advertised releases that wouldn't do anything major to sacrifice profits

well developed characters who happen to be a minority are cool and all, but it's pretty hilarious to me that a throwaway line/scene heavily implying a minor character is gay is considered super progressive or something

Pretty much, yeah. And you kind of lose said progressive points if you then proceed to make a movie set in feudal Japan then cast precisely one fucking actor of Japanese descent then get white people to fill out the rest of the cast.
