I understand not shipping Poe/Finn because of remarks an actor made, but how is that a reason for shipping this pairing in particular? What draws you to them? What about Kylo/Poe feels right to you, OP?

[note: given the fandom politics surrounding Kylo Ren I realize this might sound a little accusatory? it's not at all I'm genuinely curious about the logic]

Kylo and Finn are the only characters he has any real interaction with onscreen, besides his droid.

Fair! Fair.

"Instead of shipping these characters who essentially save one another and form a quick and meaningful friendship, I'm going to disregard that because the actor said he didn't play it gay, even though he just said "As far as I’m concerned when JJ [Abrams] sat us down to go through the script, [Finn and Poe's relationship] was a bromance, [...] But now I’m learning what Mark Hamill said before, when he didn’t know that Darth Vader was Luke’s father: ’You never know what they’re going to pull." (https://www.queerty.com/john-boyega-teases-star-wars-gay-romance-20160216), and instead I'm gonna ship this guy who mindraped the other."

+1

Honestly this secret just smacks of "it's the only way I could get the blac guy outta the picture so I'm totally going to blame the actor who didn't even say anything negative wheeee!"

Have you heard the fan speculation that Finn and Poe’s relationship is more than just a bromance? What do you make of that?
Yeah, I’ve seen that. It’s so not true. Oscar [Isaac] wishes it was though, it’s all in his head. It’s a brotherly love, a bromance, that’s for sure.

Honestly he's just telling people what was in the script.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-17 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
He could have phrased it better, like saying "I'm glad people enjoyed it, but that wasn't my intention when I was playing the role" or something.
