I'm still holding out for Poe actually being gay. I don't think Finn will be, but I think we might have a chance for a gay Poe.

(I ship Kylo and Poe too but more because I think it's an interesting dynamic and I really like the idea of Poe and Finn as great friends. Also I find both Poe and Kylo incredibly hot ;))

I understand not shipping Poe/Finn because of remarks an actor made, but how is that a reason for shipping this pairing in particular? What draws you to them? What about Kylo/Poe feels right to you, OP?

Didn't Boyega just say he didn't think it would happen in canon? that's a fair thing to say imo - I ship it and I don't think it'll happen in canon. Like it would be great but I actually don't believe a big studio movie like that would ever go for it.

I'd even settle for a character that doesn't go either way so the fans can see them as gay or not. You know, without the movie giving them a single throwaway line that confirms they're into the opposite sex. Unfortunately that's the best one can hope from Disney, though I'd love to be proven wrong...

I like both pairings for very different reasons. Finn/Poe is adorable and maaaaaaaaybe has a slight chance of happening, but Poe/Kylo (or really Poe/Ben) has an interesting and angsty dynamic. Unfortunately a lot of the latter seems to be dark smut. I prefer fic that deals with the idea that they knew each other as kids, Poe's parents being part of the Rebellion and all. Or maybe Poe hanging out with a redeemed Kylo for Leia's sake.

As for Boyega's comments, yeah they were a bit disappointing, but as others have pointed out he has already changed his answer to that question. Plus, it's as silly to get upset about him not being into the ship as it is to be happy because Isaac is into it. Neither of them have much say in this situation.

I'm really annoyed by the shipping fandom of TFA. They are so obsessed with Stormpilot for some reason that I honestly think they have been bullying Boyega into liking it or the powers that be to somehow make it happen.

I wouldn't mind shipping it if they had more interaction in the movie, except for the fact that Finn/Rey is blatantly ignored despite having more of a foundation.

I love that this movie has no canon romance but the shipper wars already happened and are wild: if the writers don't make Finn/Poe canon they are homophobic, but if they don't make Rey/Finn canon they are racist, but if they make the latter canon they fail at feminism because strong female characters must stay single.
And liking kylo/rey is problematic because they are siblings or cousins and he mindraped her mind, and apparently people never ship two white men for much less or worse.
Of course, the actors stating they play assumed straight characters is totally new and very very wrong too. They should acknowledge the shippers and validate our headcanons!
