Re: A moment for the whipping boy characters

After just watching Alnoah.Zero... Slaine Troyard fits this to a T. (spoilers) Basically a slave, constantly beaten, tortured, put down, etc. Even when he starts taking control of things, he's not even doing it for his own happiness but for the princess, he's purposefully setting himself up to be the bad guy. The ending of the series just left me feeling really terrible for him.

Are you the anon who commented about A.Z in the discussion post about current fandoms last week? If so, hi again and yes to all of this. I still feel terrible about the ending after it's been a year for me. The writers sure know how to get characters to leave a lasting impression, I'll give them that.

I am, thank you, other anon who has watched it! Yeah, that ending was... well, something. On one hand I'm glad Slaine didn't die, because I want to think as long as he's alive he has a chance at actual happiness, but still, being imprisoned alone for likely the rest of his life doesn't seem much better. I think it just all ended so abruptly. I still don't even think the series was probably that good, but a frustrating ending does make it easy to obsess over. I hope there will be a season 3 or movie, preferably one that can give more satisfying closure to everything. and Slaine and Inaho can team up and wreck everything
