My mom's boyfriend is insistent that, sure, Trump may be all of those things, but they are not part of his platform, his platform is on economic issues and we need to fix those things before we deal with social issues.

His friends include transwomen and various shades of queer people. He has never (in front of me) said anything racist, classist, or homophobic. I have no idea why he thinks that 'not part of his platform' (Even though they totally are) means 'Will never ever deal with these issues in the entire four years he will be in office and also who cares if he does because the country needs money'
