Country music, brussel sprouts, and hippy granola parenting blogs, especially Mayim Bialik's. (...I do not have children. And am not Jewish...)

Brussels sprouts are fucking great and I'll fight anyone who disagrees.

Yessss. They're best when you saute them and they get slightly brown and carmelized.... Mmmmm I want food.

Damn it, now I am also hungry. How dare you lol.

My favorite thing to cook (Also the only thing I can cook) is vegetables, usually brussel sprouts, broccoli, and whatever else was in the fridge, sauted with olive oil, salt, chives, and a lot of garlic, and sometimes just a hint of pepper or oregano, and that all goes over pasta. It's divine.

I hope you are hungry enough that you go make this because I don't have any of the ingredients and one of us should enjoy themselves.

I am tragically low on produce at the moment. All I've got is some cucumber, tomato, lettuce, carrot and cabbage.

Tomorrow when I get off my ass to go to the store this is the first thing I'm going to eat.

I would recommend literally NONE of that to be sauted. Except maybe carrots. (I tried to picture sauteing tomatoes and now I may never eat again)

Yes! Eat it, it's so good! You can also use butter in place of the oil but I've found extra virgin olive oil to be the best, and it's technically healthier.

I like them oven-roasted with garlic!

I love country music and brussel sprouts too! We just discovered brussel sprouts and how to cook them this year and it's been a good experiment.

My family and I go to concerts together all the time and have a blast at the country ones. Tomorrow night is Marshall Tucker Band, so pumped!

I told Herpy how I cook them elsewhere in this thread, if you like garlic you should saute them that way!

I am so behind on modern country, but every once in a while I go back to what was popular when I was a teen (So, circa 2009-2012) and I like what I've heard of current stuff. I'm really glad you get to go to a concert!

Marshall Tucker Band is a super old band (my dad listened to them in the 70s when he was in high school) but it'll be a fun night out.

I have satellite radio and live near NYC so I try pop in the city for concerts a lot. My mom and I have good luck and usually win 2-3 concerts a year. I'm hit or miss with artists. I either really love them or can't stand them, go figure. Right now I'm all about Kip Moore, Chris Young, Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett, Cole Swindell, Chase Rice and Luke Bryan.

Wow I've been out of the loop for a while, I only recognized Luke Bryan!

I was really into Brad Paisley for a while but then Accidental Racist happened and I was mostly just embarrassed for him.

Brad Paisley puts on one of the best live shows I've been to. I think I've seen him 3 or 4 times. Honestly, the rest of that album was really good and I kind of ignored Accidental Racist. His songs are good backyard BBQ songs so we end up listening to him a lot.

I like his love songs. He'd definitely be a good BBQ playlist. Toby Keith, too.

I'm a fan of most of Toby Keith's older songs except for "Red Solo Cup." That song is just so dumb and catchy and the music video is great.

My mother loves that song. I avoid it at all cost.

It's one of those dumb songs that once it gets stuck in your head, that's all I can hear.

Country music has so many of those.

Pretty much 90% of country music is 'I heard it on the radio 14 years ago AND IT NEVER LEFT'

YES!! Then again, no one will ever top King George Strait. I still listen to his hits from the 80s and 90s. I think he has 61 number ones? It's crazy!

Country people seem significantly more prolific than any other genre. Except maybe Taylor Swift and she started out in country.

Sam Hunt is someone I'm only just discovering how much I like. Partly because I keep confusing his songs for Darius Rucker songs.

I love his music! I saw him on tour with Chase Rice in 2013 and to promote his music, he was giving away downloads to his acoustic mixtape called Behind the Pines and it's amazing. If you haven't heard it and want it, let me know and I'll upload it.
