By "insists they're middle class" do you mean someone who just pretends not to be rich and says they're middle class only if they need to say anything about it, or do you mean someone who refuses to believe they're rich and insists they're only middle class?

I don't care if people are rich or don't want to live a lifestyle that shows they're rich or don't want to admit to it. I would have a problem with someone who clearly is rich who refuses to believe they aren't, since that implies they don't understand how the majority of people live.

Okay, yeah, that is annoying (although I don't know where exactly to draw the like between rich and upper middle class). I don't need someone to make their wealth obvious, but I'd prefer someone who knows exactly what they have and where they stand to someone who is deluded about it.
