(Anonymous) 2016-02-20 12:27 am (UTC)(link)Princess Mononoke has the best plot, but it's also really "heavy" and I can't watch it often. It's not as fun, but objectively I feel it's probably the strongest in terms of plot/themes.
Honorable mention: Howl's Moving Castle, for being a good mix of great art style, fantasy story and coherent plot that's both fun and serious (at times)

(Anonymous) 2016-02-20 01:26 am (UTC)(link)It's not the best plotted of his movies, but I have so much fun watching it. The scene with Porco's plane slowly rising above the clouds and seeing the dead pilots fly overhead is one of the most eeriely beautiful things Miyazaki has ever created.

Re: Favorite Miyazaki movie
Nausicaä holds a special place in my heart because I found it in a video store in the 80s (I now suspect it could have been the bad edit that America did) and loved it. Watching it again after buying the DVD a few years ago did not change my fondness for it.
