Exactly. There are a lot of issues that matter to me, but this is the one closest to my heart. And considering this is what I want to do with my career, I've interned and studied immigration law and I've seen how awful it is and how it affects actual people. And how, even apart from immigration law, we treat them awfully. How the idea of "self deportation" as in making conditions so awful for them they want to leave is actually a serious thing believed by many. How they are excluded from so many things. I mean, people talk about them being a burden and taking welfare and stuff. Except they can't apply for most programs. They can't get ACA health insurance and most regular health insurances are blocked to them too. They often pay taxes and get no benefit in return. So they are actually contributing to our country without even getting the basic things that everyone should have a right to.
