Woah I was just thinking about his pairing recently. I thought they had more fics than that? Of course nothing could be the sasunarusasu/sasusaku/naruhina fics in number. But I feel you, OP. Even after moving on from certain fandoms I still go back to certain pairings that I like to consider my OTPs and it feels so good.

Also I got stupidly happy when naruhina went canon, even if I was sasunaru naruhina was up there in my OTPs.

I only read like. Maldoror_GW's GaaLee fics. Those were literally the only fics worth reading for that pairing.

Yup, she's who I mean when I say '4 and 1/2 good fics.'

Ah, I see. I honestly never looked up for GaaLee fics outside of them being bg characters to some other pairing, so I cant say I know of her.

They eventually became the kind of ship that is always in the background of big slash fics, but their own fics... They had more than four, obviously, but they tended to be not good.

I didn't ship anything but slash (young idiot teenager) but I was pretty sure NaruHina was gonna be canon and I hated NaruSaku so I was happy.

It probably wasn't your intention but... did you just imply that only young idiot teenagers ship nothing but slash?

I really hate the assumption that slash/yaoi is something you outgrow on your own once you're more mature. I mean it's just a thing that you happen to like or not.

That probably was an accidental thing, what was meant that I only shipped slash for no other reason other than being a young idiot teenager. I still ship almost exclusively slash, I just no longer do so out of the stereotype of EVERYTHING MUST BE GAY VAGINAS ARE ICKY EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ONE FEMALE CHARACTERS ARE IN THE WAY

NAYRT

I think they were implying they had some internalized misogyny issues and had a typical teenage "ewwwww het cooties~" kind of attitude which they grew out of.

Understandable. Not to say that sasunarusasu was the bastion of good fanfiction, either. Looking back on it I think everyone and their moms was too young and too new to the internet at the time, so we just tended to produce whatever we thought was fun, even if in hindsight it was all horrible and OOC.

Same here, with a few honorable mentions of het. :3c And I still don't like Sakura for a variety of reasons myself.

Sasunarusasu. My first experience with ship wars *shudder*. YOU ALL SHIP THE SAME DAMN THING WHY ARE YOU FIGHTING.

We were all so young and unused to having this wide expanse of fiction and communication at our fingertips. We did not use our powers for good.

I didn't ship het until I was like, 18. I was the stereotype of the 14 year old weeaboo yaoi fangirl. I used Kawaii in casual conversation.

Upon recent rewatch, I still hate Sakura, but I no longer hate her for being 'in the way of sasunaru'. Now I hate her because I personally think she's a bit of a jerk.

THAT SHIPWAR WAS SO RANDOM! I even remember when the sasunaru comm was split into sasunaru and narusasu. And lets not get into the other shipwars. The ones from these days feel so tame compared to the ones we had back in the day. Flame wars! Essays to demonstrate why your ship was more canon than the rival ship! Entire communities full of butthurt! Ah, those where the days.

Hahahahahahaha that's an excellent way of putting it. We where the first gen to grow up online, so we're forgiven.

I still have a hard time shipping het but mostly because of the same old "woman turn useless when a penis is near" shtick. Ugh.

Also I used kawaii and emoticons like "^_^" and variations of it. I still feel the urge to use them from time to time. @_@

And same here! She's just not a character I find appealing for how much of a jerk she was, Jesus...

I KNOW RIGHT? Everyone tells tales about the Harry Potter ship wars, but no one has ship wars like Naruto. It was like we were all majoring in it, I swear people were writing their thesis.

I tend to have a hard time shipping het because the fandoms I get into tend to be DOMINATED by slash and it's easier to go 'yep I'm on this bandwagon'. And at this point I'm just so used to reading slash fic. Which I acknowledge is weird because I'm a bi woman. And along what you said, there's stereotypes in het that irritate me more than stereotypes in slash, because they directly affect me.

Yessss. Random japanese and emoticons and ughhhh I cringe in shame.

She gets better after she cuts her hair but while in the grand scheme of things that happens very early in the series, in actuality it's like fifty goddamn episodes of 'SHUT UP SAKURA WHY ARE YOU SO USELESS AND MEAN.' (Although even when I was going 'ewwww het' I kind of thought they should just all form a triad and be together)
