We get enough of that in GC already. The users you like thread is pretty much the same thing though.

I don't believe so. I mean I just feel like saying you like a particular user usually makes them feel good unless you're weird or creepy or something about it. But it's really easy to cross the line from criticism to just bullying.

With the "users you like thread" the most common outcome is that people will feel good and there's nothing really wrong with that.

Except by its nature it is exclusionary, and reinforces the idea there is an elite of users. That is not a good thing at all.

part of why I stay anon now is that when I was a named user, it came to about the same thing as when I was anon. It doesn't matter your interactivity level, you're not going to be in the central group. And it's not necessarily a bad thing - I LIKE most of the regulars, actually - but it reinforces the Old Guard feel. It's a weird cycle.
