(Anonymous) 2016-02-21 04:31 am (UTC)(link)1) Sarah Rees Brennan's books are UK bestsellers and she landed a six figure deal for that trilogy you've never heard anyone mention, so I wouldn't throw her a pity party just yet. Or at least, I hope that level of pathetic obscurity descends upon me ASAP.
2) Very few authors negotiate their own movie and print rights. That's what agents do, and it is possible to get a good agent without being Cassandra Clare.
