How often...
(Anonymous) 2016-02-21 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)I'm trying to figure out of I have an abnormal amount of them, basically.
Re: How often...
I rarely remember dream nowadays, but sometimes I do, and I wake up with heart palpitations often enough to know I had bad dreams.

I think if you have nightmares, even if you're not sure if it's abnormal, you should try to get help if you feel like you could do with it. Maybe try talking to someone about them if you're not sure about talking to a professional immediately?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-21 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)I am apparently prone to the occasional night terror, though. I don't remember most of them, but I have woken the house up with screaming once or twice, and apparently I almost threw my sister through a bannister once. There's a reason nobody ever touches me to wake me up anymore.

Re: How often...
Even if I'm super stressed I don't tend to have nightmares, I just sleep less.
If this is hurting your daily life and you have the means, maybe consider seeing a doctor? That sucks, anon. Hope you find a way of stopping them. (Or at least cutting down on the frequency.)

Nowadays, maybe one a few times a year. That's even with me taking a medication known to induce nightmares.
To be honest, I kind of miss them. Going to sleep used to mean embarking on an adventure!

I do tend to read and watch a lot of horror--maybe that's why brain doesn't bother with nightmares? I dunno.

I do sometimes have bad dreams in the sense that they make me feel discombobulated the next day (like a dream about an ex) but they're not necessarily bad when they happen, or if they are, it's not in a nightmarish way. I also have the dreams that many people have about being partly naked in a public place or failing a class that I don't even take but those don't really count as nightmares either.
