Back in the day, it used to be hipstery to turn your nose up at smut written by virgins. And looking at some of it...I can kind of see why, if you like realistic sex.

But asexuals can't write smut now? Strange. Most of my AO3 fics that have pretty high hit counts and kudos (for me, anyway) are smut.

I am asexual. it doesn't mean I haven't had sex. I've even enjoyed it from time to time. It's just not anything I need to fixate my identity around. Or does this mean you get to decide to revoke my ace card?

It's just not anything I need to fixate my identity around.

Oh, sweetie. You were doing so well until then. On the plus side, by being an obnoxious turd you've ensured that your ace card is safe from OP's filthy, sex-obsessed clutches.

Not really sure what she said that was obnoxious or unreasonable.

>>It's just not anything I need to fixate my identity around.

ah good, one of the obnoxious aces is here to prove OP's point.

god, I'm glad I was able to type this comment, my filthy sex-obsessed sexual mind was somehow... able to tear away... from thinking about sex and basing my identity around sex... to write it!!

Oh, I see now! So when you guys claim that ace people are mean to sexual people, what you actually mean is, ace people occasionally make comments that can potentially be interpreted as mildly annoying, and you proceed to jump all over them about it like overreacting weirdos. Got it.

Don't worry, [personal profile] hellkitty, I get what you were saying. Using the word "fixate" is probably not the best idea, because it is a bit provocative, but I suspect the way these anons are jumping on you has more to do with some underlying hostility than with what you actually said.

"Fixated" is an anti-LGBT dogwistle, which might explain some of the reaction.
