Fandom must be a rough place for you.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, it's a good thing OP raised their standards. No one should waste their time on crappy media.

I meant more that "fuck or die" "sex pollen" etc are pretty damn common and accepted in fandom. So fandom seems like it would be an unappealing place for someone bothered by that.

I think your fake concern is silly. Most people tag their work these days and neither of those particular kinds of rape fic are anywhere near as common as you're making it sound.

DA

1. Neither of these tropes are that popular. In many fandoms they're not popular at all.

2. That's what TAGS are for, and you know that.

3. Sex pollen does not sound like what OP is talking about in the first place.

You are making up an issue for OP to have, which they almost certainly don't have, presumably in a feeble attempt to make OP's opinions look invalid.

1. Neither of these tropes are that popular. In many fandoms they're not popular at all.

Maybe I'm just in dubby/rape-heavy fandoms. In Aot, a third of the fics are between a teenager and a guy twice his age, who's his superior officer. That's a lot of dubcon/noncon.

3. Sex pollen does not sound like what OP is talking about in the first place.

It's just an example of a type of dubcon/noncon. There are a lot of different kinds. It's not necessarily the case, but it's hardly a wild leap to presume that someone bothered by the scenario OP mentioned would be bothered by other dubcon/noncon tropes.

You are making up an issue for OP to have, which they almost certainly don't have, presumably in a feeble attempt to make OP's opinions look invalid.

I have no idea how the idea of "if you're bothered by dubcon that much, fandom is probably rough for you" would make someone's opinions look invalid. Like? those things??? aren't even??? connected??? you know???

you know??? You tell me.

Blitzwing out here bravely keeping the fandom world safe for completely terrible stupid webcomics

Be proud blitzy, don't let people with standards get you down, just look down on them even harder

Blitzwing out here bravely keeping the fandom world safe for completely terrible stupid webcomics

it's nice to be appreciated. The world should be safe for terrible stupid webcomics.

Though ironically, my standards for webcomics are probably higher than most. But I'm picky about the art, rather than the writing. I can ignore a lot for something that's pleasing to the eye.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
I agree 100%. If rather have dumb comics with racist, sexiest, ugly mess than sanitized "inoffensive" nothingness. Or literal nothingness in the place of comics.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt it, and these type of answers to things are starting to become very boring and overdone.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
That is some unappealing art.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
What did the pos do?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
IDGI. What's wrong with a character choosing to have sex with someone they presumably care about to keep them alive? Or is it the "celibacy=death" concept?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I think its the "women are only good for sex" message that OP has a problem with. Its why i stopped reading Anita Blake.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
That interpretation sounds like kind of a leap to me.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
But there are a bunch of female characters in the story who aren't good for sex.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's the extension of the "blue balls" myth - if women don't sex men up it's them being withholding teases/uptight meanies rather than making a choice as autonomous people.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Where are you getting 'women are only good for sex' out of Anita Blake? I thought it was pretty obvious the author was just writing down her own sexual fantasies about group sex/sex pollen type stuff (the ardeur has just made me SOOO turned on I MUST HAVE SEX OHHH), which is not even close to the worst kink out there.

The writing was bad, sure, but 'women are only good for sex' was never a part of the story.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
It's stupid. As a plot development, it is stupid. It's not morally wrong. It's just bad.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt
True, but OP made it sound like it was morally wrong and unfeminist.

OP

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
It seemed incredibly contrived, even by D&D webcomic standards. Plus I had the feeling it would turn out that the guy wasn't actually cursed and he'd just made it up to convince her to have sex with him, and it would be treated like it was a surprise twist no one saw coming.

What is this comic?

OP

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Goblins: Life Through Their Eyes. It's a D&D comic where a bunch of goblins fight some adventurers and then decide to become adventurers themselves. The author has a knack for quickly introducing interesting characters, then throwing them into situations where it seems like they have no way of surviving.

Ew sounds like you left at a good moment. The are better things to waste your time on.
