Re: Writers thread
(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:19 am (UTC)(link)Idk why I'm posting this I've just kinda recently worked out the root of my problem. Anyone else have things they do in writing that mess themselves up?

Re: Writers thread
(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:58 am (UTC)(link)same here! I know there's something to be said for being succinct, but I worry I'm leaving the reader confused because obviously i know what's happening so I might not notice if I'm insufficiently detailing things....

Re: Writers thread
(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 02:30 am (UTC)(link)More often than not, I realize that all that stuff slowing me down was unnecessary--the story flows just fine without it, and the reader can fill in the blanks without any trouble. If it feels like too big a leap, though, I usually have a sense of what in particular is missing--okay, I don't need to describe Joe opening the door, but the moment of walking into Ezra's room is really important, so that's my new pickup point.
Hopefully that helps? Give it a try next time you find yourself stuck like that and maybe it'll work for you!

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 04:11 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, I definitely need to let myself make jumps more, cause when I go back I realize how much was unnecessary in the first place. Thanks for the tip! I will try it next time.
