I have never, ever found an Inuyasha fanfic that wasn't awful. Anime as a whole, for reasons I don't quite get, seems to have a disproportionate amount of bad fic. At least the big ones, like Inuyasha and Naruto.

Yu-Gi-Oh fic suffers heavily from this problem too.

Oh yes! All the big anime fandoms have SO MUCH bad fic. Death Note and Digimon were similar. I'm sure I could come up with a few more as well.

Sad, but kind of true, and I say this as somebody who has spent most of my time in anime fandoms.
(It's funny because one of my earliest longfics was a Yugioh/Inuyasha crossover... it suffered from mediocre writing, but I was trying very hard with the plot).
ATM I'm in AoT fandom, and I have to admit that there are few fics I think are truly good.

Oh yes, my first fandoms were all anime. My fic was... not good.

Anime and I grew apart in part because I grew into better writing and there just wasn't much of it, and for me I like to know there will be a good fandom if I'm gonna get into something. I've enjoyed things without fandoms, of course, but I prefer it this way. I'm told that AoT is good but I'm sad to see that anime fandom hasn't changed much.

Ah, see, I can't control my heart ;_; somehow I'm still most drawn to and most inspired by anime, in terms of fandom.
In AoT it's been kind of slim. I mean, I write fanfiction (and I think my stuff is decent XD), but I don't actually read much. Most of my fandom friends are people who read and liked my fics.

Then again, I've gotten so picky in recent years that it's helping my transition to original writing, out of pure self-defense.

Haha I keep getting drawn back into my old favorites, so I can't say anything. I just binge-watched pre-shippuden Naruto a few months ago.

There's certain things that I will read even if they are absolute garbage because there's not enough of the theme (Kidfic, for example), but otherwise I'm so picky that I'm starting to resent it.

It's okay, I've read basically every single FFVII time-travel AU. Every single one. Even the terrible ones. (though I admit, I didn't finish all of them...)

I've been thinking about rereading some of my old fav Inyasha fics, but now I'm afraid they're going to suck. |D

Yeah, that's how I felt going back to Naruto. "I remember this being better..." It's always weird going back to a fandom after a few years away.

I don't know you have to look hard but there are a few really good ones in Naruto and Bleach. Or maybe that's because I like reading angsty lemons.
