Fandom: The old fashioned Mary Sue witch hunts of days past. I remember the horrors of those days.

Nonfandom: JESUS FUCKING CHRIST DO NOT FUCKING STEAL FOOD FROM MY FUCKING PLATE WITHOUT ASKING. I DON'T DO IT TO YOU, DON'T DO IT TO ME. *clears throat* I mean: I hate when people think they deserve to be vultures and steal food from someone's plate without asking.

I think they may mean in terms of fanfic.

I never really got it, because often it seemed like the people worrying about fanfic Mary Sues just didn't like OCs, period. So why even bother? And why did they take so much joy in making fun of twelve year olds for their fanfic?

Because it takes one to know one, at least in terms of maturity.
