omfg Marvel. It's not as bad nowadays (usually) but reading the dialogue of characters like Remy and Rogue was downright painful in the 80s and 90s. I think the very worst example though is the fact that there was a panel of Sam Guthrie shown writing a letter (to his family iirc correctly) and the letter itself was written out phonetically. who the fuck painstakingly writes out their own dialect? it was pretty hysterical (and annoying as hell)

Gambit and Rogue especially were who I was thinking of, it was so bad and I can't believe no one questioned it. I mean I guess it was to obviously show they had accents but before I saw the cartoons I legit did not know what accent Rogue was supposed to have.
