(Anonymous) 2016-02-26 12:09 am (UTC)(link)Even if we claim that the Crusaders were way back in history, I don't think it's good to erase the fact that Christianity has its own crazy religious-militant past, but even as a reference, it doesn't make sense!
They're not fighting to protect anything, they're not fighting FOR anything! They're searching for something!Conceptually, this should not be a 'crusade' anyway, even for the way 'crusade' is used in other contexts.
if they were called the "Cutie Mark Vikings" it would be stupid too. It's a nonsensical association.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-26 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)Crusading, crusaders, etc seeped into colloquial use a long, long, LONG time ago. That's what happens with language. Phrases get absorbed and sanitised. People say things like 'don't be such a grammar nazi' all the time and surely that history is far more recent and relevant to today than the fucking Crusades.
Just... get some perspective for gods sake.
