This. I love gendered Latin endings for exactly that reason.

Consider: a sleight-of-hand artist is a prestidigitator. However, if she's a woman, she's a prestidigitatrix.

And if she has a lady friend in the same line of work they are, together, prestidigitatrices.

I cannot be upset about anything that makes me smile that widely. I'm sorry.

I was a huge fan of "gladiatrix" - damn like, if you'd walk in with a sword, that word alone could make you feel powerful.

It's fine that you feel that way. But I don't. If I ever learned to fly (and that would be so cool!) I would like to be a pilot, an aviator, anything that describes my training and ability without bringing gender into it.
