I don't care about age differences, but I find "But the older one is immature so they're equal" to be such a strange argument. I wouldn't want to date someone who was immature for their age, no matter what that age was. I wouldn't want a friend to do that. I would disapprove of any child of mine dating an immature older person due to the immaturity first and foremost. You risk having to play the "parent" to your partner for the rest of your lives. It's not a good thing. I tend to side-eye anyone who excuses having an older partner with "He/she's immature!"
