Re: Store names, places, and words you assumed were something different

The signs for The Bay department store all have this weird B that - to my twelve-year-old mind - looked a lot like a hand written capital G. So I spent a while envisioning the sign as saying "The Gay." I knew the story wasn't called that, but that's what I saw whenever I looked at the sign.

Also, when I was a little kid, all the signs for Coles book stores actually read "COLES the book people." But for some reason I always read it as "CLOSE the book people," like they were telling you to close the book you were looking at, which seemed a pretty weird way to sell books.
