Honestly, the 'kylo as mra neckbeard' whatever jokes are getting pretty old. He's not my favorite, but I definitely think he's more interesting than a lot of people give him credit for.

Same. And I mean, he's not really a teenager, he's probably in his twenties.
(Right?) So it's not really like our villain is some bratty teenager.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
He's 29/30.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Where are people gettnging that? There wasn't somethng from the actual movie, right? Because if it's just suplemental material, i'm totally ignorng it for my fic...

It was in a tweet from one of the filmmakers, listing all the ages of the main characters.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
It's from here: https://mobile.twitter.com/pablohidalgo/status/688861512895561728

Pablo Hidalgo is part of the Lucasfilm Story Group, which was set up after the Expanded Universe was eliminated in order to make sure the canon for Star Wars had some kind of reference guide.

Then they should have cast a guy who looks that age.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
He does? Driver looks haggard.

Adam Driver is that age.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
He's a pretty misogynistic character, tbh.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
How?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
He was created explicitly to oppose the empowerment of the female lead. Yeah that is just his story role, but it still makes his entire reason for existing misogyny.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
The last person I saw reach that far was Reed Richards.

I'm saying you're reaching.

And torturing a male character, more viciously mind you, doesn't count, huh?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Violence against women: terrible, worse than Hitler. Violence against men: who cares.

Oh, you're one of THOSE.

Have a nice life, you sad, strange little person. You also have my pity. Farewell.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Because he captured and tortured the hero in a series where the heroes are always getting captured and tortured, but this time the hero is a woman so it's different.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing different about it. Vader was a misogynist for the torture and implied rape of Leia.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
He also tortures Han and Luke. Why the hell are you putting his pro-torture tendencies on him liking to hurt women?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Leia was raped?? by vader?? wha?? aah???

Mind rape is a completely different issue, and not the sort you're talking about at all. While it's a valid definition of the word rape, it's not at all similar aside from being a violation.

And no, someone is not a misogynist for torturing a woman. They're a misogynist if they do it BECAUSE she's a woman, but that was irrelevant to the issue.

Uh, no, Vader never raped Leia nor did he even imply it. That was a truth serum to try and crack her for the location of the Rebel base. And that was it. She has no moments in the series of being terrified of touch or anything like that could even remotely say she was raped.

Stop reaching, red!fem. It's not funny anymore.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, Vader tortured Han as well and actually mind raped Luke. There are literally no implications he raped Leia.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
lol far from it, but nice try.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, didn't he offer to teach Rey the ways of the Force? Not like that's a huge recommendation, but if nothing else, he at least doesn't believe in excluding women from learning the way of the Force.
