Yeah, I hate that for mainstream movies it's the norm to just pretend that teens aren't interested in sex until they're 18.
I find that the way coming of age anime like Evangelion handle that much closer to my own experience. I mean, I (consciously) masturbated since I was about nine and had *wanted* to get laid since I was about 12. I ended up at 18 because I was awkward and gay but it wasn't for a lack of interest in the activity.

I also get irationally pissed off if people call EVA or Utena creepy for having the 14 year olds in it have sex or sexual feelings because that feels like a really unhealthy, bigoted and unrealistic way to look at it.
