I have played all three. I really liked Infinite, but I do think 1 and 2 were better. Although a part of that was my extreme hatred of the combat system and how the game seems to EXPECT that you die. Here, now you can only carry two guns, combat is literally always with waves of enemies, and you will likely die every six minutes on the easiest difficulty. But it's ok because Elizabeth will fix you as opposed to just making it possible to survive on your own. That's fun, right? (Meanwhile I died not at all in Bioshock and exactly once in 2)

Yeah, BSI's combat is basically a Call of Duty clusterfuck only worse. I hate it so much. BS1/2's combat at least resembled System Shock 2...

Anyway, if you get around to playing the DLC let me know what you think! There was very little I didn't like in it. And 1998 mode was exactly what I wanted it to be.

I hear good things about SS but haven't played.

I plan to play it eventually! It's on my list of things to buy.

System Shock is one of my all-time favorites, though it's a bit cliche-embracing at times. Both games are on gog.com and SS2 is also on Steam. And they're working on an SS1 remake AND an SS3, on top of SS1 being available for sale for the first time in 20 years. Everyone thought the series was dead (mostly due intellectual property issues) and that was half the reason Bioshock got made in the first place. It's never been a better time to be a fan :)

(I hope they make a new Bioshock, though -- with Levine out of the picture it might even be good!)

Awesome! I'll put System Shock on my list as well.

I'd love a new Bioshock but my concern is that Bioshock is big on twists, and while I did like Infinite, it's twist is just on this side of good. Trying to top that will dive into bad fanfic territory. Also I'd want a new Bioshock with the same set up as one and two because again, Infinite's combat system sucked.
