While I do hate how more widespread it it, it isn't new, you just had to dig a bit more to find the 'you're problematic for liking this ship' kind of talk.

Sadly fandom has always had a bug up its butt about shipping and it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon(it's why I mostly stick to the fringes, I don't care what people ship, I just want to be left alone to enjoy mine).
