It bothers me that her neck has no fat on it. Arms are pretty slim too.

I roll my eyes at the sort of fat "appreciation" art where the girl doesn't even look like an actual fat person as they're only allowed to have chub in very specific parts of the body.

Seriously? I'm an "actual fat person" and my hands, feet, forearms and neck are all pretty skinny. My collar bones stick out. Most of my fat is in my stomach, butt, hips and thighs. It's not that rare. Fat people come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

I mean, of all things to complain about being unrealistic...

I'm also an actual fat person. All parts of me are fat and I've literally never seen my type positively represented in this kind of art.

I'm fat, but I'd still say this kind of 'fat but hourglass' figure is pretty darn unrealistic.

Um...she has the exact same body type as like 99% of the American plus size models I see. In fact it's kind of uncanny. It makes me wonder if the artist used Western plus sized girls as an inspiration/reference. (This is super generalizing but Japanese girls don't tend to gain weight like that, in the same places. They just sort of...puff up everywhere like a cute marshmallow (in fact there's a subculture for appreciating "marshmallow girls". :D)

Here, this was the third search result for "plus size model" and I think she looks basically exactly like Pochaco's body type, even though it's hard to find a person who looks like ANY anime character's body type, much less a chubby anime girl:

Yeah it's not the most common body type but it's certainly not that rare. She's meant to be a model as well so it makes sense she'd have a similar body shape to other plus size models.

Plus, yeah, she's an anime character. Of course she doesn't look particularly realistic.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-28 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. I don't know a single real person who is fat and has that kind of perfect hourglass body shape, myself included.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-28 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently you and I don't know any plus-size models.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-28 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Because everyone knows that models are representative of the bodies of the majority of the population, right?

I'm the same as you, and it's SO frustrating that people seem to think "well you're almost there, you can just lose your belly and hips and you'd be such a pretty little thing!"

UGH.
