Honestly, I think a lot of shipping wars have gotten a lot worse. And this is coming from someone who has been on the net since the "good" old Prodigy board days. I mean, some ship wars could get catty, but not to the levels that I've seen now: "Oh, you like THAT ship!? Go kill yourself now!"

It's one thing to have a verbal tit-a-tat over ships, but freaking death and violence threats!? Or maybe I hung out in less crazy fandoms to notice? I remember the Cloud/Aerith vs Cloud/Tifa from FF7, but it was never ever as bad as, say the Dragon Age fandom in general.
