I can kind of get that, except it only works if the people involved are the same gender for me. In femmeslash and slash it's interesting. In het it's... well. Par for the course, usually

I like them in slash and femmeslash, too. Glad to hear I have company. I thought this whole community hated them, e.g. secret 10.

10's issues seems to be more of an OOC and no variety thing. I just get the feeling if there were at least a handful of fics where the characters were in opposite or more equal roles they wouldn't have a problem.
