They use niceness as a weapon, like any other cult, so just start closing the door on them when they turn up. They'll get the message. If they accost you in the street, don't break stride as they won't dare abandon their pitch to follow you. They'll get the message, but you got to start being rude to them.

I don't think this is true. Rudeness isn't necessary, and while I'm as against the group as it comes, a lot of these people are kids (like, teenagers) who are on "missions", from the church they grew up in and have family in. They genuinely think this mission work is a positive thing. They are not going to accost you or force their way into your house. A smile and a "no thank you" is a perfectly effective way to end the conversation. And who knows, maybe it'll do them good to see that the "other side" is nice too, if there's ever a day they want to build bridges or switch sides.

Yeah I don't think this is even rude necessarily. When you see them at the door, just smile and say "no thank you" and shut the door. If the same people keep coming tell them they need to stop harassing you. I bet they will stop if you threaten to take action against them for harassment.
