I don't think this is true. Rudeness isn't necessary, and while I'm as against the group as it comes, a lot of these people are kids (like, teenagers) who are on "missions", from the church they grew up in and have family in. They genuinely think this mission work is a positive thing. They are not going to accost you or force their way into your house. A smile and a "no thank you" is a perfectly effective way to end the conversation. And who knows, maybe it'll do them good to see that the "other side" is nice too, if there's ever a day they want to build bridges or switch sides.
