I'm frustrated that I don't know what shows OP is talking about.
elaminator: (Hannibal: Hannibal (robe))

I could be completely wrong but “Deeply fucked up people doing deeply fucked up things that the narrative acknowledges" made me think of Hannibal. No idea what the other show could be, though.

I'm thinking maybe Teen Wolf? Because the protagonist does have a habit of doing that and not having it acknowledged by the narrative.
elaminator: (Teen Wolf: Allison Argent (shh))

Would anyone feel superior for watching Teen Wolf? Lmao, sorry. (Look, I loved the first three seasons, so it isn't that I don't get the appeal! However, yea, I'm honestly baffled about what show one COULD feel superior about.)

Maybe? Scott wasn't perfect, but he usually had a good heart. TW was the kind of show that wouldn't always call out bad behavior, though. (The whole Lydia and Peter thing.)

There are so many shows that "deeply fucked-up people doing deeply fucked-up things" could describe. Supernatural could also qualify, and from what I've seen online, the 100, and possibly Arrow? Also that pirate show my sister likes, and the show about Victorian London?

(I'm suddenly noticing a pattern in my sister's faves.)

And that's assuming it's live-action, current, and on network or cable tv.

*Doctor Evil voice* Throw us a fricken bone here, OP!

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing Doctor Who?
elaminator: (Hawkeye: Clint & Kate - Not amused)

[personal profile] elaminator 2016-03-01 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. I haven't watched in a while, but I know the show has done that before. Sometimes The Doctor's companions will call him out (Donna, for example), but it's true that The Doctor is usually considered right, and his methods justified. (Was difficult for me not to capitalize that.)

That was my guess, for the high horse fandom. The Doctor is fallible... but so often, the show seems to treat his failures as someone else's problem because The Doctor is great. Which is a shame, because I've considered myself a fan, at least in a casual sense, for a long time... but it's been a while since I've felt like actually watching the new episodes of the show. /shrug

... way too many shows could be the OPs fave, though... no idea which one is right.

As a former fannibal, definitely thought Hannibal here.

[personal profile] mrs_don_draper 2016-03-01 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
My head went to the same place.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Thinking it's GoT vs. Dr. Who, tbh.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Took me a minute to 'get' the picture. A high horse.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I really hope the long-legged horse and ladder represent the fandom/s. Still no idea what they could be, but I like the thought.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
That's a fine looking high horse.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
What you got in the stable?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you fellow anon, I was hoping someone would. ;)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
The only character I can think of for "your fave" is Damon Salvatore. And the Originals ALL do super fucked up things?

[personal profile] caerbannog 2016-03-01 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Kind of related but I mentioned I was watching a deeply controversial dog training show and didn't get any hate!

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
What show? *Used to be in "dog fandom"*
caerbannog: (Default)

[personal profile] caerbannog 2016-03-01 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Cesar millan! It was an interview or a documentary or something. Funnily enough I didn't notice the first 20 minutes as I was training my dog.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
this sounds like osomatsu-san (mostly because i know quite a few fans who are putting certain brothers on a pedestal *cough*karamatsu*wheeze*) but op, is this me?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't even concede the "problematic"-bullshit. If this is indeed GoT. Because no matter what I've read so far none of the arguments why it's problematic has yet convinced me.

Every piece of media has elements of racism or sexism or heteronormativity or transphobia or lack of disabled representation or SOMETHING. There is nothing that gets everything right, that would really satisfy everyone on Tumblr.

And be the most boring piece of media out there...because you KNOW that these pre-recs would also mean that these characters or just character can't be flawed in ANY kind of way. Cause that would just REINFORCE assholes preconceived notions about minority people.

Cause, according to Tumblr, NO ONE can have their view points changed. Like, at all. Everything is black and white.
