I've not felt constantly harassed, even living in a downtown area, and have never felt 'unsafe' online. Ridiculed once or twice, sure, but never unsafe.

HOWEVER, I also live a rather solitary lifestyle and am generally private/ambiguous as possible online. I'd wager that plays a rather large part in how I experience these things.

+1 Same here, save for the ambiguous part. People know full well I'm a woman on the various sites I go to, but the people who know that have treated me just like anyone else, thankfully. Any anti-women comments I come across have been generalized, and the people making them were just being idiotic trolls.

I'm also fortunate that the sites I spend time on are pretty decent places in and of themselves overall. Sure, there's been a few jerks floating in and out, but I've gotten on well with most of the people there.
