The slice of life stuff is fairly accurate, if idealized. I mean, if you're talking about the little stuff, like taking off your shoes when you walk in, everyone being in the same class all year (the teachers rotate classes, not students), the kind of stuff they do in gym class and the subjects they take, students cleaning the school/no janitors, sliding doors, yadda yadda.

oh, I'll also add, this is one thing you'll never see in anime - while all Japanese public schools have uniforms, some private schools do not have uniforms. But most anime heavily fetishize uniforms, especially the sailor-style uniform (which is pretty old-fashioned at this point, most schools have blazer/dress shirt combos), and will never, ever show a no-uniform school, despite the fact that they do exist.
