Holiday cards and thank you notes.

OMG yes. Where I live thank you notes aren't really a thing, but holiday cards and birthday cards definitely are. I refuse to send any. I don't care if people have sent me any. Fortunately birthday cards are becoming less and less of a thing in favor of FB and text messages apparently. And most people understand by now that I won't send cards, so either they're fine with not getting one back, or they've stopped sending me any. I just don't see the point. People rarely write a real message, so it's just a pretty piece of paper you have to throw away after a few weeks.

The only cards I do send are those 'Sincere Condolences' ones. Because I'm not always able/willing to go to the funeral, but I'm not a big enough asshole that I'm going to ignore the fact that someone just lost a loved one. And I know from experience that at that point in time reading (and possibly replying) to those cards can help.
