Eh, animals are seldom good actors. A cat-loving reviewer of bad horror films notes that she'd seen plenty of scenes where, despite the soundtrack being a frenzy of hisses and yowls, the body language of an onrushing group of cats was obviously saying "Oh, the clicker's over there! I'm running to the clicker, give me my treats!" (primarily by their ears and tails being in the upright 'happy' position, rather than ears back and tails down/fluffed out)

Similarly, this picture of a dog in HR Giger-designed armor: ominous though it may be, the dog's face is all "The people must've put me in this for a good reason! I hope I get treats!"

one of the things that takes me out of movies all the time is when scenes of rats are dubbed over with UNENDING squeaking sounds, as if they just make that noise while breathing or something?? do movie people really think we won't understand they're rats without constant squeaks?

I don't think I've ever thought about it before, but that is kind of odd
ginainthekingsroad: Withnail in the rain- "I have of late, but wherefore I know not, lost all my mirth" (Withnail & I- Withnail in the rain)

For me it's a vulture being given the cry of a red-tailed hawk. Staaaaawp.

Both rats and worms do this in most films. SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK! I's the worm sound and it's obligatory.
