Where do you get your formal/semi-formal dresses, F!S?

I'm looking for a dress to wear to a wedding in July. I've started doing some looking, and would love suggestions for where else I might look. My starting point was ModCloth and Unique Vintage, which might give you a small idea of my taste.

My current criteria are:
•My budget is $100; under is great, super-firm budget is $120.
•I'm 5'5", 110 lbs and somewhat busty. I usually wear a size small, 4 US (8 UK).
•I MUST be able to wear a regular bra with dress- no strapless/spaghetti straps/halters.

Although I don't really expect you to go find me a dress, I'm more looking for websites where I can shop for myself. But if you have thoughts on my criteria specifically, that's cool too.

I'm a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding in April. I actually got my dress from Target. They have some really nice formal dresses on their website that are also fairly reasonably priced.

If you have time to do some serious digging, Asos. A lot of their stuff is more going out appropriate, but I've gotten two really good dresses for weddings from there (that I can wear a bra with!), but it takes some searching.

If you're worried about budgeting, you could try your local Goodwill/thrift store if nothing else. It's rare, but I once found a prom dress that was worn once then tossed... of course, there was a tear, but nothing that couldn't be fixed.

(And I realize it may not be a prom-type dress you're looking for, but you never know, you might find something there.)

I have found many lovely things at thrift stores-- I live in LA, so there's even the It's a Wrap thrift store: actual film/tv costumes-- but I'm looking to get something new and special to my specifications. This is the wedding of a very close friend and I am actually in the bridal party; we only have a color theme and are free to find whatever dress we'd like.

You need to find yourself a consignment shop. Those have wonderful finds.

Thrift stores + at home alterations. Buying a dress online isn't necessarily a bad idea, but buying formalwear online on such a tight budget can be a disaster.

I'll agree with the thrift shops (and lucky you with all the cool shops in LA--if you're looking for something really nice, I recommend the shops in wealthier neighborhoods).

Check out Etsy? I guess the quality can be hit or miss, but you can find some pretty nice stuff...and now...I'm blanking on a beautiful website...ugh! If I find it again, I'll post it!

I've seen some surprisingly nice dresses on Target.com (not in the store, sadly) and Land's End's online store. I've also heard nice things about eshakti.com, which allows you to input your personal measurements for a custom fit.
